days soften
sun sets earlier
blossoms become seeds
hummingbirds are leaving
bluejays beg again for peanuts
maple leaves blaze red orange gold
and my thoughts turn toward
soups chilis casseroles
hot chocolate tea
extra blankets
sweaters
solitude
